There is a single Holy Eurcharist service at 9 am. The form is Rite II, similar to the 10 am service as observed the rest of the year.
We come together on Sundays as a community at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. to give thanks to God, to praise God, and to break open God’s Words. Our worship follows the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer, thus connecting us to the ancient traditions and practices of the Early Church. Our choir is lead by Kathleen McDougald-Lee and The 1982 Hymnal and Lift Every Voice and Sing are our primary hymnals. Once a month, we chant the psalm.
Our 8 a.m. service is Holy Eucharist Rite I, and without music. It is more intimate and maybe preferred by those who like to rise up early to be renewed by God in community.
Our 10:00 a.m. service is Holy Eucharist Rite II, with joyful singing by the choir and the congregation. The sermons at St. John’s aim to connect our everyday living and what’s happening in our times to the assigned Sunday lessons. Sometimes our sermons are interactive, enriching the message with the reflections and voices of the laity.
Sunday School and nursery care is offered at the 10 a.m. service, and coffee hour is offered at the end of both the 8 and 10 a.m. services.
